Juarez had to re-evaluate his choices after decommitting from USC in October after Steve Sarkisian's firing. Schools like Oklahoma and Alabama came scrambling after him, but he ended up choosing another Los Angeles school in the end.
The Torrance, Calif., native — ranked No. 11 nationally and the top outside linebacker overall by 247Sports — was pursued hard by Alabama in recent weeks. Tide coach Nick Saban even flew out to California to meet with him in his home less than three weeks ago.
As a member of the Mormon Church, Juarez also caused a stir two weeks before National Signing Day when he visited BYU in Utah, though the Cougars were never considered serious contenders.
