Paper jam? PC load letter?
Who hasn't wanted to smash and bash a printer the way Peter Gibbons, Michael Bolton and Samir did in Office Space?
SIGNING DAY: Winners and losers | Nation's Top 25 players
With a nod to that scene, Houston did its best impression with head coach Tom Herman leading the way with a foot-stomping, bat-wielding destruction of the athletic department fax machine.
Well done.
Virginia assistant football coach Mark Atuaia was on a recruiting trip in Davie, Fla., last Wednesday when his cop instincts kicked in.
As he was leaving a Publix grocery store, he saw a woman get hit by a car. Witnessing that is crazy enough, but then he saw the car drive off as if nothing happened.
SIGNING DAY: Winners and losers | Texas | Bama | Michigan
"It was surreal," he said, via the Richmond Times-Dispatch. "I see the car, and it didn't stop."
So what did Atuaia do? He sprang into action.
"My car was still on, so I put it into drive, and I went to chase the car. All I was going to try to do was just get a license plate then come back." He eventually pinned the car in at a nearby stoplight until a security guard arrived.
His wife said he is "an idiot." He admits it was kind of a crazy thing to do.
"I watch too much 'Cops'," he said with a laugh.
Overall, he's happy he was able to help out. A nearby security guard stopped by to take care of the driver and police helped the woman who was hit. She was treated at a medical center.
Fresh off Michigan's signing circus, Jim Harbaugh can’t stop the flow of big ideas.
Via the Detroit News, Harbaugh has something in mind with fellow former Wolverines quarterback Tom Brady when No. 12 decides to retire.
MORE: Michigan's signing day blast | Winners and losers
“I had great conversation with Tom Brady before the (Signing Day) event, and he was talking about ways that he could share the knowledge that he has in terms of working. He said a really profound thing: ‘I love playing football, and I love working to be able to play football.’ And then I just started asking, ‘How do you do it? What do you do?’ And we’re talking about some big ideas that can be incorporated here at Schembechler Hall and the University of Michigan,” Harbaugh said on the “Huge Show”, a syndicated radio program. "That’s the next big one. I’d love to have a TB12 elite sports performance right here in Ann Arbor and have Derek Jeter involved, have Nike involved, Charles Woodson involved, Michael Jordan involved. It would be a spectacular thing.”
TB12 refers to Brady’s athletic performance training method and center with fitness coach Alex Guerrero.
Brady and Jeter were among many celebrities on hand for Michigan’s “Signing of the Stars” on Wednesday.
Adding Nike and Michael Jordan to the mix? No one can accuse Harbaugh of not thinking on a grand scale.
The 2016 version of National Signing Day is in the books, meaning it’s time to take a way-too-early gauge on the latest recruiting classes.

The Crimson Tide finished with the No. 1 class in 247Sports team rankings for the sixth consecutive season with a late flurry that included landing in-state five-star linebackers Ben Davis and Lyndell “Mack” Wilson. Adding five-star defensive end Terrell Hunt simply replenishes a front seven that continues to be the source of Nick Saban’s dominance in Tuscaloosa. The recruiting run might be more impressive than the four national championships.

The Volunteers had a quiet day compared to last season, when they hauled in a top-five class. This year the Volunteers ranked No. 14, which isn’t bad, but it’s behind Georgia (No. 7) and Florida (No. 13). Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson was only at Wisconsin for one season, but the school is bringing him back in May.
Wilson will deliver Wisconsin's commencement speech during the May 14 graduation ceremony in Madison, the school announced Wednesday.
MORE: Colleges represented in Super Bowl
In a video posted to the UW website, Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell — another former Wisconsin quarterback — joined Wilson for the announcement.
"It's an honor to be the 2016 spring commencement speaker," Wilson said. "I'm looking forward to it."
After receiving his bachelor's degree at North Carolina State, Wilson transferred to Wisconsin for his final season of eligibility in 2011. He led Wisconsin to a Big Ten championship and Rose Bowl berth, but lost to Oregon in the Rose Bowl to finish the season 11-3. Wilson was a third-round pick of the Seahawks in the 2012 draft and helped the Seahawks win Super Bowl XLVIII and return a year later.
Wilson will not be compensated for his speech, but the school will cover his travel expenses.
The timing of it all went from the unfortunate to the unthinkable.
No matter what you think of Ole Miss and coach Hugh Freeze’s ability to recruit elite players, you have to marvel at the sheer genius of winning on multiple levels.
RECRUITING: Harbaugh's big day | Alabama not going away
With the backdrop of a Yahoo! report late last week detailing an NCAA notice of allegations that includes violations in the football program, Ole Miss went out and beat — in no particular order — the aura of allegations hanging over the program, negative recruiting and heavyweight recruiters from its own conference to land a Top 6 class.
A class that could be better than the 2013 class that elevated the program to the nation’s elite — and brought with it skepticism on how Ole Miss recruits.
“It’s frustrating as heck,” Freeze said of the idea that Ole Miss is operating other than above board.
He paused for a moment, then added sternly, “we’ve changed the narrative here. And they don’t like it.”
Take your pick on who exactly “they” are. The NCAA. SEC rivals. Anyone who can’t believe Ole Miss — the only SEC West Division team from the original 12 in the league to not play in the conference championship game — recruiting as well as anyone in the nation’s best conference.
You say it just can’t be. Freeze says look at the results.
When you’re the only team that has beaten Alabama under coach Nick Saban in back-to-back seasons, it resonates with recruits. When you’ve played in back-to-back New Year’s Six bowls, that’s what sells.
When you’ve got underclassmen declaring early for the NFL — three of whom are locks for the first round — high school players take notice.
“What happened was a credit to the way we do things here,” Freeze said. “Relationships won out in the end.”
MORE: Tracking the Top 25 players | Quick start to 2017 recruiting
And it led to a class that, in three years, could be better than the 2013 class that Freeze used as the foundation of his program. That class included program-defining stars like Robert Nkemdiche, Laremy Tunsil, Laquon Treadwell, Evan Engram, Tony Conner and Quincy Adeboyejo.
This one includes a program-defining quarterback (Shea Patterson) who can sit and learn behind a potential All-American (Chad Kelly); offensive tackle Greg Little (think Tunsil), defensive tackle Benito Jones (think Nkemdiche) and wideout A.J. Brown (think Treadwell).
This class, just like 2013, comes with the backdrop of how.
How does Ole Miss go into Louisiana — with LSU desperate for a quarterback — and get the best quarterback in the 2016 class? How do the Rebels get Brown, who went to high school in Starkville, Miss. (the home of rival Mississippi State)? How does Little leave the state of Texas for a program that hasn’t won an SEC championship since 1963?
Because the one guy who controls what it’s all about in Oxford, is the one guy who couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. There’s a reason Freeze has stayed at Ole Miss despite overtures from other schools in and out of the SEC.
It would have been easier to make more money and go somewhere else, and lead a program that has more built-in advantages than Ole Miss. But Freeze born and raised in the state of Mississippi, and believes in the dream of what can be at Ole Miss instead of the nightmare of what was. And he can sell the hell out of it.
HAYES: Strong's owns NSD, but still needs QB for 2016
He did it three years ago, and has consistently done it since. That he has Ole Miss back near the top shouldn’t really be a surprise.
You want to criticize Freeze for something? Take aim at his team failing to stop a fourth-and-25 against Arkansas that would’ve sent the Rebels to the SEC Championship Game and changed the entire dynamic of the 2015 season.
Then what? Then if Ole Miss beats Florida in a rematch and wins the SEC Championship, is a Top 5 recruiting class really such a surprise?
Who knows what will come of the NCAA investigation. A source told Sporting News a majority of the violations are from the former coaching staff (Houston Nutt), and the one prominent violation from this staff (Tunsil’s contact with an agent) was responded to proactively and addressed with a multiple-game suspension.
Know this: an elite group of players isn’t signing with Ole Miss without full knowledge of the severity of any violations.
Or without a coach who can sell a dream like no other.
Jim Leyland dabbed, Derek Jeter hung out with Tom Brady, Ric Flair was in attendance, and Michigan raised more than $110,000 for the charity ChadTough during Wednesday's extravagant "Signing of the Stars."
A fundraiser was held during the event for ChadTough, the foundation named for Chad Carr, the grandson of former Michigan coach Lloyd Carr. Chad died from Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a brain tumor, on Nov. 23, 2015. His story had strong ties to the Michigan football team, so they try to help out whenever possible, and Wednesday was no different.

When asked by the Big Ten Network how Harbaugh got so many stars to show up, he had a simple response.
“Love for the university … but most importantly love for Chad Carr, ChadTough, his family, what Lloyd Carr has meant to this town, this state, this country,” he said. “Tammi and Jason, Chad, his brothers. We’ve all witnessed it.
“When you see love, you see love for a young 5-year-old boy, when you see him love back, and everybody involved, it brings you nearer to God. I think that was the cornerstone of this event. Let that pour out and let others see it, too.”
Linebacker Caleb Kelly had two starkly different schools at the top of his list, but opted for Oklahoma over Notre Dame.
Leaving his California roots behind, the No. 25 overall prospect will make a huge impact for the Sooners.

At 6-3, 215 pounds, Kelly is fast and will be a force to be reckoned with on the defensive side of the ball. He won the Butkus Award, which is given to the nation’s top high school linebacker, after he posted 115 tackles, 23 tackles for loss and 21 sacks as a senior at Clovis West High School.
The nation's No. 3-ranked linebacker, per 247Sports.com, is Oklahoma's first five-star commit this season.
SAN JOSE, Calif. — When Panthers safety Roman Harper last played at Alabama in 2006, he played for Panthers offensive coordinator Mike Shula.
Since then, Harper has become a Super Bowl champion with the Saints, while the Crimson Tide have become four-time college football national champions under Nick Saban.
RECRUITING: Saban, Tide not going away | Top 25 commitments
As Harper attempts to get his second ring with Carolina in Super Bowl 50, he’s down with his winning pro pedigree inspiring recruits to roll even more with Tide on National Signing Day.
“I don’t know if that’s what kids base their choices on, but it can’t hurt it. Winning national championships, Alabama recruits itself now. Nick does a great job of getting the guys there.
“You have a lot of five-star and four-star guys at Alabama, but they get there, he’s making those guys bring their talent to the top. The competition is at a high level. If you can play there, you can play in the NFL, and kids understand that.”
In turn, as those elite college players help Saban win titles, it only grows Harper’s relentless Tide pride, which he’s always eager to express in the Panthers’ locker room.
“To see Nick continue to stockpile, it only makes it easier as a pro for me to say in the locker room, ‘Yeah, I went to Alabama.’”
Harper can see that a big part of Alabama’s success under Saban is tied to finding the right type of recruits to consistently field one of college football’s best secondaries.
SUPER BOWL: Watch game from Harper's apartment | Best Super Bowl winners
“They definitely have a tier of what they’re looking for in a player, whether it’s a safety, corner, nickel. They definitely like taller corners, guys who can be physical, play the ball and have great skill sets.
“To see them play that well in that system — and it’s a tricky system to kind of learn — and to be successful year after year, it’s amazing to watch.”
Harper isn’t sure if he would have been Saban’s type of defensive back, but he would have been ready to prove he was.
“I don’t know if could have played there now, because I’m probably not big enough to play safety. I would have made a couple of plays, though, and worked my way in.
Everyone gather around. Throw an arm around the person next to you or hold a hand.
Trust me, there is a way to get through this. This is the monster we all know as Alabama football.
MORE: Ranking Saban's Tide teams | What's next for Alabama?
Start with acceptance. Alabama is not going away. Nick Saban is not taking another job (not another word). Alabama is going to continue winning games. Lots of games.
If you're not an Alabama fan, you hate this: Four national championships in seven seasons and six consecutive "recruiting championships."
It's time to embrace the Crimson Tide. There's not a thing you, me or anyone else can do about their dominance. You don't have to root for Alabama and you probably won't.
But you should appreciate what Saban is doing in Tuscaloosa.
Really, you should.
Yes, Alabama gets the best players and should be winning titles. But consider this: In the nine seasons prior to Saban's arrival, Alabama had three head coaches, went 63-48, won two bowl games and one SEC title.
In Saban's nine seasons, Alabama is 105-18 with seven bowl wins, five SEC titles and the four national championships.
You know what that's called?
Stupid good.
After scratching together his first signing class at Alabama in 2007 — a class that featured just four four-star signees (the horror) — Saban has been on a devastating recruiting run through the state of Alabama, the South and wherever he wants to go. Better yet, Alabama doesn't have to go anywhere to find recruits. They flock to Alabama.
RECRUITING: Top 25 player tracker | Looking ahead to 2017
Alabama's 2016 class of 24 includes players from 11 states (from California to New York to Florida) and Washington, D.C. The Tide's 2017 class already has nine commitments, including the nation's No. 2 overall player (five-star) RB Najee Harris, seven four-star players and one three-star defensive end who everyone knows will get that fourth star between now and next signing day.
And why not Alabama? The school's recruiting slogan could read: If you're not interested in competiting for titles every year and being put in position to further your career in the NFL, then maybe Alabama isn't the right place for you.
Don't expect Saban's Process to turn National Signing Day into a giant spectacle. He doesn't need to. He's built the Bama brand into something it's never been and everyone is chasing it.
So don't roll your eyes at what Jim Harbaugh did Wednesday in Ann Arbor. Don't scoff when you see videos of coaches high-fiving in war rooms over an 18-year-old's commitment.
They all know what they're up against and it's not going away anytime soon.
And they need all the help they can get.
Jim Harbaugh brought Ric Flair, Tom Brady and Derek Jeter to Ann Arbor on Wednesday.
But five-star talent Jack Jones was the only recruit to commit with a superstar sitting alongside him on National Signing Day.

Wichita State hasn't fielded a football team since the 1986 season, citing budget problems and poor attendance. But could the program be making a return?

Bardo added, "Meeting with consultants today to talk about athletics. Excited for future possibilities at Wichita State."
Wichita State has experienced success in athletics over the past decade, led by the Shockers' three Sweet Sixteen trips in men's basketball.
WSU’s athletic budget is around $18 million, Bardo told the Wichita Eagle in December, and he estimated that adding a program in the FBS costs around $13 million more.
“Everything is on the table,” Bardo told the Eagle. “The sports we offer, facilities, conferences. This is about the university, and its ability to support the community and support our students.”
The school's notable football alumni include Bill Parcells and Jumpy Geathers.
No. 1 outside linebacker Mique Juarez made UCLA a happy squad on National Signing Day by choosing the Bruins over the likes of USC, Alabama and Oklahoma.

Juarez had to re-evaluate his choices after decommitting from USC in October after Steve Sarkisian's firing. Schools like Oklahoma and Alabama came scrambling after him, but he ended up choosing another Los Angeles school in the end.
The Torrance, Calif., native — ranked No. 11 nationally and the top outside linebacker overall by 247Sports — was pursued hard by Alabama in recent weeks. Tide coach Nick Saban even flew out to California to meet with him in his home less than three weeks ago.
As a member of the Mormon Church, Juarez also caused a stir two weeks before National Signing Day when he visited BYU in Utah, though the Cougars were never considered serious contenders.
ANN ARBOR — Think like an 18-year-old recruit.
What do you see? What can you tweet? What looks cool? Is there anything cooler than Tom Brady, Derek Jeter and Jim Harbaugh on the same couch talking about you on one couch while Lou Holtz, Mike Shanahan and Todd McShay are breaking down your high school highlights across the stage in front of a full auditorium of adoring fans before you’ve even taken a snap for that school?
MORE: Top 25 player commits | Flair turns Michigan blue
That’s the visual Harbaugh created at the Signing of the Stars at Hill Auditorium on National Signing Day on Wednesday, a two-hour program that served as another game-changer in the always competitive can-you-top-this-at-all-costs world of recruiting.
Did it go too far? How much is too much?
“People will do something similar or they’ll criticize it,” Harbaugh said. “It worked for us.”
Bet on the former because this did work for Michigan, which reeled in a top-10 class heading into Harbaugh’s second season. Harbaugh spun an event dedicated to the memory of Chad Carr, the 5-year-old grandson of former Michigan coach Lloyd Carr who passed away in November.
The two-hour telethon rolled “The View,” “SportsCenter,” “The Oscars” and “Days of Our Lives” into a reality TV show, with former Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz serving as comic relief. A former Irish coach who once tormented Schembechler is now a recruiting tool for Harbaugh.
Think like an 18-year-old recruit. Michigan’s Kingston Davis sat on the couch after Brady introduced him. Heisman Trophy winners Desmond Howard and Charles Woodson introduced other recruits. Jim Leyland dabbed with Migos. Ric Flair let a roomful of “Woos” that he was “All Blue, baby.” The endless procession filled two hours with no commercial breaks. Harbaugh pulled out all the stops, while actor Randy Sklar kept the punchlines — even a few uncomfortable ones — rolling.
RECRUITING: No. 1 overall player chooses Michigan
“This is the whole deal,” new recruit Devin Bush said. “Michigan has so many connections and so many ties. A lot of great people. You have no choice but to meet them sometimes.”
Harbaugh used every one of those connections to start that next Signing Day trend, one that might be impossible to top. Harbaugh meshed Michigan’s tradition with enough ESPN and NFL connections to make any 18-year-old kid’s head spin. How do you top Brady, Jeter and Ric Flair?
“We take pride in setting standards and being leaders and best at Michigan,” Howard said afterward. “Did I foresee what (Harbaugh) was going to do? I don’t know recruiting and what you can and can’t do, I don’t know what the parameters are. This is thinking outside the box. This is what Michigan is about.”
It’s what Michigan is about now. A school that used to be too stuck in its own tradition for its own good has become the lead innovator in the always-viral, sometimes-superficial, always-important recruiting mechanism that feeds the nation’s best programs. A school that was on “Good Morning America” during the Shane Morris debacle in 2013 is now reeling in one-day PR of the best kind.
Harbaugh is competing with Clemson’s Dabo Swinney for coolest coach on the block and won’t be far from competing with Alabama’s Nick Saban and Ohio State’s Urban Meyer for best college coach on the block. Signing of the Stars walked the line of absurd, but Harbaugh’s out-of-box recruiting theories pushed the envelope just right. Former NFL GM Bill Polian introduced Bush. Ravens coach John Harbaugh joined the party. It’s different. It’s not a violation. Is it?
“Having been through this myself, you pull a fax out of a fax machine and a coach stands up and talks about it and usually says kind of the same thing,” Harbaugh said. “How do we do you something different; something awesome? I was really pleased with it, I think it was awesome with a capital A.”
MORE: Ohio State's big 2016 class | Jump start on 2017
Think like an 18-year-old recruit. Howard said there’s a “synergy” around a program that is coming off a 10-3 season. The endless procession of alumni and celebrities is window dressing for what’s behind that curtain. Michigan has its best recruiting class in years, and Harbaugh already has plans for spring practice in Florida. The copycats are coming, too. All those powerhouses were watching.
What can we do to top that? Harbaugh already beat everybody else to satellite camps and sleepovers. And Signing of the Stars proved the ultimate party. Harbaugh says it’s time to get back to work, and chances are he’s thinking of the next big thing. Is the message behind it sound?
“What he did was keep it real with me the whole time,” Bush said of Harbaugh’s recruiting pitch. “He never promised me anything. His whole main message to me was this is your opportunity.”
Shortly before the end of Wednesday’s program, Harbaugh let everybody know “he heard some good news backstage.” Harbaugh couldn’t say yet, but Rashan Gary, the No. 1 recruit in the country, had just committed to Michigan. The Wolverines are assured a top-five class, one that will be measured by Wednesday’s party.
Is this the class that took the recruiting circus to a never-before-seen level? Or did recruiting just jump the shark?
It’s probably the former.
It doesn’t matter what the middle-aged critics are thinking. Think like an 18-year-old recruit. That’s what Harbaugh is doing, and he’s doing it bigger better than everybody else right now.
